ALL ABOUT CAYMAN BONNIE & SOME FUN THINGS ABOUT CAYMAN

Today I wanted to tell you a little about my adopted home, the Cayman Islands. Canadian by birth and Caymanian by choice, I have lived here (with my husband) for over 18 years!

Our Fathers were both in the military and so we have both moved numerous times over the years, and neither one of us has EVER stayed in one place for even 10 years! Even here we have managed to live in 7 different homes over the years. We keep saying that this one is our forever home but it turns out, no it's not.

We moved here as a result of work opportunities - okay...truth is, we were tired of the cold! We had only been here in Grand Cayman a year and decided that THIS is where we wanted to live, forever if they'd let us!

We both initially worked in private practice, in different law firms (it turns out that we don't play well together as lawyers), and after two years I went back in-house to work as Associate General Counsel for an offshore drilling company. I left after 5 years, supposedly to retire but, a former client from the law firm asked if I would come to work for them as the Managing Director of a corporate services and fund holding company.

I was there for 2 years and then retired. What to do? What to do? I took up photography and have never looked back. We...elll, maybe looked back a little, okay, a lot! But I have persevered and it's working out...I think!

Our little island (we live on Grand Cayman, the largest of the 3 islands) now has a little over 88,000 people, a majority of them, expats (residents) because of the shortage of workers in Cayman. That's why they have so many residents working, living and playing here.

We currently live near the capital, George Town, on a canal so that we can utilize our 2 SeaDoos and our boat. We are the servants to 3 cats, all of them rescues and all of them bossy and all of them with such different personalities that we can even tell when they cry (i.e., scream) or jump up on the bed in the middle of the night...on our chest.

We also have a small 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo in East End on 1600 feet of sandy beach. At some point we will probably be spending time (summers) in Canada and will want a smaller home that we can just lock up and leave without worrying about other things such as gardeners, pool maintenance and the like. If you are interested, you can look HERE to see how lucky we are. And no, this is not an advertisement for short term rentals; it's just easier for you to see all that the East End has to offer.

And I'd also like to give you a couple of stories from Cayman that I have written in the past (updated this month):

Miss Lassie (Intuitive Artist or Madwoman?)

Best Mudslides

AND, one last mention; I am also selling a 14 page calendar for 2025 and 2026. The name is Travel Inspiration and it has calendar pages dated from September 2025 and on throughout all of 2026. Every page shows my own photos so I hope you like them!

I'm selling it at a significant discount (regularly $27, now only $17) so take a peek - from July 14th to 20th - or until August 31st if you buy an extended pass!

That's all for now. I will tell you more about me over the next newsletters. I'll also show you photos of our stunning islands and more of my travels around the world. I may even continue to send you the occasional freebie because I want all my subscribers to enjoy my stories and free is always good!

Thanks for reading!
